A Word from the Bishop

St. Luke 23:34 (KJV)

[34] “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.  And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”

In Philippians 3:14, Paul talks about pressing towards a higher level in his spiritual life.  This great apostle and disciple understood that there is a higher level of holiness to be obtained.  It goes beyond an outward expression.  It is manifested by an inner peace that gives confidence in spite of the prevailing conditions.

Jesus displayed that higher level of holiness when on the cross, he asked his Father to forgive his persecutors.  It is that same request for forgiveness that meets us today.  It’s power has not diminished.  He is still able to intercede for us and bring us to a higher level of holiness.  Will you accept the forgiveness that is yours to receive?  Are you willing to forgive those that have and are persecuting you?

Forgiveness is the first step in lightening the load. Let your prayer today be, Lord take me higher.

God bless you.
